Classes

Classes open to the public for all skill levels, with flexible studio times and pricing.

SATURDAY  NIGHT  SPECIAL!

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Saturday.

Sign up online using our events calendar to reserve your spots. Must pay to reserve spots!

This 2 hour class is for anyone from first time beginners to advanced!  For $25 you get 5lbs of clay and a demonstration at 5 p.m.

The pottery that is made in the class will then be fired, glazed, and then fired again for you to pick up at a later date.  The process takes around 3 weeks.

 

 

 

6 Week Class Information:

Next session starts the week of Sept 5th!

  • All classes are held at 321 Main Street location.
  • All classes meet 2.5 hours per week.
  • Every class includes 25 pounds of clay, 1 storage shelf, bisque firing, a variety of studio glazes, the first glaze firing and open studio.
  • Unlimited Open Studio during normal store hours.  So come in and practice!
  • Tuition is $230.
  • Sign up by calling or online.  Must be paid to reserve spots.

Next session after that starts the week of October 30th!

 

Beginner Wheel Throwing

This class is for the beginner in wheel-throwing and focuses on basic methods of centering clay and throwing simple forms such as cylinders and small bowls. Students will learn how to finish their pots including trimming and using standard decorating and glazing techniques.

  • Tuesday 10 am to 12:30 pm
  • Wednesday 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

 

Intermediate Wheel Throwing

In this class, students will refine the basic throwing and trimming techniques previously learned. Students will also be introduced to new techniques and challenged to complete projects such as throwing plates, sets and larger pieces. At this level, students will concentrate on functional forms with an emphasis on individual skill building and developing a personal style. Students will be introduced to composite pieces, lidded vessels, and advanced decorating and glazing techniques.

  • Monday 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Thursday 10:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Friday 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm

 

Advanced Wheel Throwing

This class focuses on development of individual style through demonstrations and informal critique. Special emphasis will be placed on advanced decorating techniques. Students must be recommended by their Instructor and accepted by the Advanced Instructor in order to sign up for this class level. Students must have advanced through the previous levels.

  • Thursday 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Our Process

At Generous Earth Pottery, I use pure materials from a reputable supplier – our generous earth. These do not contain lead. All products are food safe, dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. I do recommend hand washing to ensure you can pass the pottery down to your great-grandchildren and beyond.
